My First PHP application
Hurray!
Atlast after a long struggle of 4 hours, I deployed a sample PHP application. I have my Apache 2.2.4 server set up, hosting PHP 5 with Mysql. This time again, i was not interested in writing the classic “Hello World” application, instead i tried running a phpinfo method. Finally my long time dream of PHP came true. Still a long way to go, I have so many ideas to try out in PHP. So will start now. Actually configuration was little tedious, setting up the server, database and other things. Somehow without the help of Xamp, I configured( Thanks Varun, I did without it :)) . I tried this both in Win XP and Win2003 (@Home and @Office).
Here are someuseful links which guides for installation:
WEB 2.0 Names
Feedbean,Centinti],Livefly,Skita,Truva,Gigatune,Zoompad,Imbu,Yovee,
Plando,Famba,Yakizz,Pixova
Wondering what all these eh? All these sound like WEB 2.0 rite? Its nice actually.
Do you want any WEB 2.0 names for your site, here is where you need to go WEB2.0 name Generator
It also allows you to check whether the name is available for you as a domain.

ASP.NET AJAX Rocks : I tried My First application
Today ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 was released, I couldnt stop myself from doing a sample application in that, I started, I installed all the necessary stuff and began my journey. Believe it or not, its so dammmm easy to creat AJAX application in ASP.NET, am sure that this will be a BIG success.I dont want to start with “Hello World Application” I want to try something different, So I did a calendar application which also contains a timer kinda thing. It hardly took 5 mins, but to catch up with initial set up and to know how to do, took some time. Am very confident that Microsoft will regain its position with this, I am currently working on AJAX in java, wiht GWT, when compared to ASP.NET AJAX, java is a real pain. You gota do everything in java.
ASP.NET AJAX is no exception to Microsoft Product it is very very simple , and the same Drag & Drop features. Its kool.I cant stop myself from working on that. Here is my first app

Google Image Search results underwent a change
I am not pretty sure, but today, I noticed a change, Usually the images will be displayed with the URLs, but now, only images are displayed with their name below and once if you move your mouse over that, Div appears rendering the info about the image including the size, resolutions, URL etc.
This is actually nice, it gives more of a desktop feel to the users.kool feature.

Its better not to have a Laptop
All IT professional have/had dreamt about wandering in the office with the LapTops in their Hands. Some would have got them, some are yet to. But having a Laptop, is that really kool? I dont think so. Here are some points for that I would ssay, I dont want a Laptop
Its better not to have a Laptop because:
- You should always carry them, at first it may sound and feel great, but as time passes, its a real boring thing.
- If you are given a Laptop in your company, they indirectly mean that, you should work even at home, its not the case for a PC user, coz most of the servers, softwares wont be available in our PC@Home.
- You should always carry the charger, thou you do, you dont know when you battery will go down. As one Murphy’s law we can say,” The Laptop’s battery discharges @ a faster rate, when you are nearing your deadline”
- You should reply to client’s mail immediately, almost you are made to work 7 days a week because of this.
- For those who use two wheelers, its a real headache, you gota be really really careful, It will rain, the very next day your are given a Laptop or a drunken driver will cross you in roads.
- You have to take care of it as a child, any scratch, thats all you wont eat that day.
- you cant watch tv peacefully at home, because we want to show off to our neighbours that you are a tech-geek, so even while eating you will have that open( sorry, you cant deny)
- All you office mates( who are not given one) will always peep into your laptop.
- You cant say to your boss in the meeting “Oops! the code its there in my system, I will mail y, once the meeting is done”. You gota show at that place itself.
- In meeting, while waiting for the boss, every other person will do some shit with YOUR laptop, ” excuse me, I wana see something, urgent shall I?”
- Is something is wrong, you really cant find any shit out of it, you really gota wait for the service guy.
- Every day, you gota plug and unplug the LAN cable, if not every 5 min you gotta have an eye on the red/yellow/orange light of the router.
A lot more, so better be with you PC no Laptops- no worries. By the way, I gota browse some sties, to see which Laptop is best to buy ;) lol
