“100″ Link-Limit Myth

Posted in Google, Internet, SEO by Bala on the October 31, 2006

Busting Google’s   “100″ Link-Limit Myth
I was going through an article about SEO, its on the 100 link myth of Google by  Paul Bliss, after that only even i started thinking, who is google to limitise our links?

100 Link-Limit Myth is “having more than 100 links on any page would send up flags in Google, resulting in low ranks and status”

If you have a FFA (Free For All) site, or a link farm where anyone can add links, then I could see where this would be detrimental to your rankings. However, if you have relevant links on your page pointing to other sites similarly themed to your site, how can you be penalized? Who’s Google to say how many relevant sites there are about your topic?

How could Google (or any other search engine for that matter) tell us, the web users, who their friends are?

The Internet is growing at such a rate that it’s very conceivable that the search engines will never be able to index every piece of virtual real estate the web has to offer. And with growth, comes more places to be found, and in return, more places to link to.

I’ve read about this topic in many forums and people always want proof. Paul Bliss(SEO- C) researched and found two extremely well ranked sites that easily surpass the 100 link limit…

The point is, FORGET about all the nonsense that Google spits out about a 100-link limit. That’s like your parents saying that you can only have 100 friends, no more or else you will be penalized!

Being that the Internet is a social environment, how else would someone learn or find out about a new site? Advertising will alert you to new products and services, but they won’t be able to tell you how bug zappers work. The search engines need our links. They can’t grow their index without us. Therefore, exercise your right to link!

But dont involve in Google Bombing, also remember not one can limit us…so enjoy linking

Fat Finger SEO

Posted in Google, Internet, Lol, Tech Snippets, Tech Trends by Bala on the October 31, 2006

For a very long time i have been searching a particular term for a kind of SEO, which improves your listing only because of misspelled word.My blog is a very good example for this, “peoms“, through this i found this… instead of “poems”, i have named a category as “peom” and that mistake has fetched me nice listings.As am in SEO now, I would use this to describe,Simply put, not everyone is a typist and we sometimes mis-spell a word or URL as we enter the text into the browser or search box.

There are many who think that going after these people is a waste of time since almost all search engines recognize gramatical errors and make suggestions to the user. But sometimes there are various spellings of a word, and you need to optimize for all of them.

A great example of this are the variant uses of the following word:
* Wheel Chair
* Wheelchair
* wheel-chair
Which one is correct? According to Google “WheelChair” is the suggested term. But in the search results, “Wheel Chair” has 76,300,000 million results, “Wheelchair” has 61,500,000 results, and “Wheel-chair” has 50,700,000 results. (more…)

I read a story now, this may seem to be a silly story, but has a lot of sense.. here it goes

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up,along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would  be frightened as she walked home from school and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child. Following the roar of thunder, lightning, like a flaming word, would cut through the sky. Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child’s school. As she did  so, she saw her little girl walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would  stop, look up and smile. Another and another were to follow quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.
When the mother’s car drove up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her, “What are you doing? Why do you keep stopping?” The child answered, “I am trying to look pretty, God keeps taking my picture ” .
Face the storms that come your way and don’t forget to SMILE! Now Smile………………………………….. I know you smiled..

Am pampered wit ur presence,
coz of dat i think i cldn value u much…
There were times,i longed for ur presence,
but now. . .
I want sometime to miss you,
tho  thats da worst punishment
i can give to me,
but i need it..

Am i treated cheap,?
Am i considered less?…
If so give me a break….
If not so.. Rethink …
U came to me not coz i liked u,
coz u liked me..
Still i like you,
but still u haven realised that…

Take some time and be back,
am not tellin this to hurt ya,
but u shldn hurt me…

I love gettin hurt,
but i can give that power only to who love me,
not to whom i love…
