Laptop users will encounter this problem of Battery drain when they connect an USB device with their machine running Windows XP with service pack 2. This bug is in the USB driver which makes the battery to drain faster than normal time. Microsoft also acknowledged that the flaw, which lies in the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) driver of Windows XP SP 2, will remain without an easy-to-apply fix indefinitely.
